Japan Telecommunications Engineering and Consulting Service (JTEC), a nonprofit organization was established in 1978. Recognizing global demand for international cooperation in telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, Japanese government together with related industries took the lead to establish JTEC. The industry leaders took part in the activities of JTEC include NTT, KDDI, NHK, NEC, Fujitsu and other telecommunications manufacturers.

Over the past 36 years,JTEC has been committed to promote international cooperation activities on ICTs,and now is a sole independent nonprofit organization in Japan for international cooperation in the field of telecommunications and broadcasting.

JTEC dispatches missions to countries and carries out advanced survey for construction of telecommunications facilities.

Thereafter Japanese telecommunication industries carry out implementation and technology transfer by their respective operational staff.Until today, the number of our partner developing countries exceeded one hundred.

Until recent years JTEC activities were dependent upon Japanese government ODA funds. However, due to the privatization of telecom industry worldwide and diversion of ODA funds to other sectors, private sectors expected to play a major role in international cooperation in the ICT sector.Under this context,JTEC,established by the public and private sectors, will continue to play an intermediary role between developing countries and the Japanese firms.
