JTEC President Dr. Yoshio Utsumi visited the Pilot project for improved
Health & Medical environment with ICT for rural areas in Lao PDR

The excellent result of collaborative research project (2) studied with the Government of Lao PDR which completed in 2009. JTEC together with the Government of Lao PDR proposed one ICT pilot project to APT for improved Health & Medical environment for rural areas in the country. The project was approved in April, 2011 as an initiative to narrow digital divide in Asia-Pacific region. Within this pilot project, broadband connection between central hospital in Vientiane and provincial hospital in Luangphabang were realized and doctors in each hospital started to enjoy the benefits of the new ICT systems.
Opening ceremony of this pilot system was held in Vientiane in February 2011 with participation of relevant officers from the Lao government, Embassy of Japan, MIC of Japan, supporting company, and the President of JTEC.
Presentation on the result of the above-mentioned collaborative research project of 2009 was made during Asia-Pacific Development forum in Tokyo in May 2010.
