VNPT-IT, LPIXEL, and JTEC Launches Proof-of-Concept for Medical Image Diagnostic Support AI System “EIRL” at Hanoi Hospital of Post and Communication in Vietnam

LPIXEL Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tomihisa Kamada, hereinafter “LPIXEL”) and Japan Telecommunications Engineering and Consulting (JTEC; Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasuo Sakamoto, hereinafter “JTEC”), in collaboration with VNPT Information Technology Company Limited (Head Office: 57 Huynh Thuc Khang, HaNoi, hereinafter “VNPT-IT”), a subsidiary of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group, have agreed to launch a proof-of-concept (PoC) for the AI diagnostic support system “EIRL” at Hanoi Hospital of Post and Communication (Bệnh viện Bưu điện).

In Vietnam and across Southeast Asia, the number of physicians per capita is less than half of that in Japan. The quality of healthcare also varies greatly between large urban hospitals and small rural clinics, causing patients to flock to major hospitals and further straining already limited resources. For example, at one hospital in Hanoi, the radiology department operates 24/7 throughout the week to accommodate patients traveling from rural areas. Moreover, with economic growth and lifestyle changes, aging populations and lifestyle-related diseases have become national issues, much like in developed countries. As routine health checkups become more common, demand for medical resources is expected to intensify.

Against this backdrop, the need for AI diagnostic support in imaging is even greater than in Japan, and rapid adoption is anticipated. To prepare for market entry in Vietnam, this PoC will verify technical compatibility and effectiveness within diagnostic workflows through the following initiatives:

Overview of the Proof-of-Concept

The PoC will utilize VNPT-IT’s cloud-based Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to integrate multiple EIRL solutions for chest X-ray, chest CT, and brain MRA. The project will assess both technical compatibility and workflow effectiveness. Based on the results, discussions will begin toward wider adoption and commercialization in Vietnam.
  -Duration: September 23, 2025 – February 28, 2026
  -Objective: Verification of technical compatibility in Vietnam and discussions toward commercialization
  -Roles: 

     ・LPIXEL: Provision of “EIRL” AI diagnostic support system and technical support
     ・JTEC: Project management, local needs assessment, and business planning support
     ・​VNPT-IT: Cloud infrastructure, PACS integration, and coordination with local hospitals

As medical imaging modalities become increasingly advanced, the workload for radiological diagnosis continues to grow. Leveraging proprietary AI algorithms, LPIXEL’s “EIRL” series analyzes medical images such as chest X-rays, CT, endoscopy, and MRI to support physicians with more accurate and efficient diagnoses.

As of the end of June 2025, the EIRL series had been deployed in over 1,000 medical institutions across all 47 prefectures in Japan, with cumulative analyses exceeding 12 million cases (including trial use).
