In recent years, natural disasters have increased globally, and the introduction of disaster prevention systems to disseminate emergency information to the general public has become an important issue. Based on many years of local needs research, JTEC has developed a solution that integrates telecommunications and broadcasting, and is working on system development and local implementation support.
JTEC has developed a prototype of this system and successfully implemented it at the national broadcasting stations in El Salvador and Nicaragua in Central America. Through technical cooperation with a Swiss international cooperation agency, now, real-time earthquake early warnings are transmitted end-to-end. The governments in the region highly appreciate the technical potential of this system and plan to conduct joint field trials of a system that transmits emergency information through complementary collaboration between broadcast and mobile, including the utilization of cell broadcast functions (CBS).
Our objective is to establish a comprehensive system that enables optimized disaster-related information to be transmitted "anytime, anywhere, and quickly," even to areas where cellular networks do not yet cover, such as rural areas, even during times of disasters.
JTEC will contribute to disaster prevention and mitigation by deepening technical verification of this system, in cooperation with local authorities and supporting the establishment of its operation.
